Upward Basketball is a coed basketball league for grades K-6th. Our goal is to promote the discovery of Jesus while teaching the game of basketball.

Players practice one night a week (not Wednesdays) and have games on Saturdays. Please consider coaching, as we would like to have two coaches for each team. You can also give back by being an Upward Referee.

About Carpool Requests

+ Player evaluations are designed to make teams competitive.
+ Carpool and friend requests can alter the integrity of the teams.
+ We allow families to make ONE request — carpools are important, players want to be with their friends.
+ If a request is made, both players must request each other.
+ Practice night exclusions count as the only request. If you list a friend, you must leave all nights open for practice.

2025 / 2026 Season FAQs

What grades play in this league and is it coed?

Our league is for boys and girls in Kindergarten-6th grade:

+ Kindergarten has its own league; they only practice and plays on Saturdays.
+ Grades 1 and 2 play together; 1 practice per week, games on Saturdays
+ Grades 3 and 4, play together; 1 practice per week, games on Saturdays
+ Grades 5 and 6 play together; 1 practice per week, games on Saturdays

All leagues are coed.

How much does this league cost and what’s included?

Registration for the league is $135 from September 15-October 15. The cost goes up to $145 after October 15.

This includes a t-shirt and jersey. Players may wear their own black shorts or purchase shorts for an additional $10. Also included is a gift for all players at the end of the season

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. Each additional sibling has a $10 discount

When does the league begin/end?

+ Registration opens September 15^th and ends November 3^rd.
+ Evaluations are in November.
+ Practices start December 8^th and run for two weeks.
+ Practice resumes January 5, 2026.
+ Games start January 10, 2026, and end February 28, 2026

Do I have to attend an Evaluation?

Yes.

The evaluations are designed to make teams competitive. It does not matter if your player has never played. You will receive an email with the information below after you register.

All players must attend ONE evaluation, which take approximately 20 minutes.

Optional: At-Home Evaluations

A parent or adult will perform the evaluation at home or an alternate location.

You will need a basketball and a hoop (8ft for grades K-2, 9ft for grades 3/4, 10 ft for grades 5/6). We use a 28.5 inch ball for all grades except for Kindergarten – 27.5 inch ball.

Can I make a carpool request?

The evaluations are designed to make teams competitive. Any carpool or friend request can alter the integrity of the teams.

However, we realize that carpools are important and that players want to be with their friends:

+ We will allow families to make ONE request.
+ If a request is made BOTH players must request each other.
+ If a practice night exclusion is listed, that will count as the only request.
+ Players cannot request a practice night exclusion if they make a carpool request.

Can I Coach or Referee?

We always need coaches and referees. Please fill out the volunteer form on the website.

The Upward program has online practice plans, devotions, and other resources to help you be successful. We also like for all teams to have two coaches to share responsibilities.
