Steve Law

Finance Director

People have asked me for years how a career in finance can be a ministry, but that's what I've always believed God gifted me to do. As a young person I felt God calling me to use my gifts in ministry, but I didn't feel called to be a pastor. My greatest strengths are in being behind the scenes, managing finances and operations that enable ministries to happen. My role at BABC focuses on doing exactly that.

I've led sessions at national conferences on topics in church finance and taught courses at the seminary level on church administration. Throughout my 30-plus-year career, I've consulted with dozens of churches in addition to those where I've served on staff, and my biggest accomplishments at all of them involve maximizing budget dollars and streamlining processes to facilitate more efficient, effective ministries.

I completed my undergrad degree at Houston Baptist University, my MBA at Baylor, and my MDiv in church administration at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I also pursued continuing education to become a Certified Church Administrator with the National Association of Church Business Administrators.

I've been married to Jennifer since 1993, and we have two adult sons, Spencer and Sam. We love to travel, especially in Spain. I'm bilingual in Spanish and English. I'm committed to walking more than 10,000 steps every day, regardless of weather, and one of my goals is to walk the 500-mile Camino de Santiago (to date, I’ve done only a portion). I’ve also done cross-stitch for decades. It's one of my favorite hobbies, because it allows me to invest time in personal gifts for others that they'll find meaningful.
