Bio – Leah Gilbert Harlow

Rev. Leah Gilbert Harlow

Student Pastor

Greetings and salutations! My name is Leah Gilbert Harlow and I am a recent transplant into the Richmond area. I am so grateful to be at BABC to serve as the Student Pastor and serve alongside such a wonderfully talented staff.

I have been working professionally with middle and high school students since 2007, starting at First Baptist Church of Bluefield, WV. Since then, God has also called me to work in Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, College Ministry, Young Adults Ministry, to teach adults, and to preach on occasion. Most recently I served as the Youth and Missions Minister at Wake Forest Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC for seven years. God has continued to grow and refine the calling he has placed on my life through each new chapter.

I attended Bluefield College, now Bluefield University, where I received my BA in Christian Studies with a focus on theology and youth ministry. Following my graduation, I married my high school sweetheart and started working at First Baptist Church of Gaithersburg, MD. It was during this period that I attended the John Leland Center for Theological Studies where I graduated with a MA in Christian Leadership, and was ordained shortly after. But, being a lifelong learner, I am looking to continue my studies in the pursuit of a Doctor of Ministry degree, focusing on mental health, Christianity, and students.

I enjoy playing fast pitch softball, kickball, hiking, playing music, trivia nights, spending time with friends, cooking, being creative, and running. My husband and I have four wonderfully crazy children, three cats, two dogs and a fish. You can usually find us out and about exploring and trying new things, cheering on our favorite teams (go Nats, Commanders, Carolina Hurricanes and the Caps!!), and supporting our kiddos in their endeavors.
