Transitional Interim Pastor

Since March 2025 I am the Transitional Interim Pastor here at Bon Air Baptist Church and am very excited to be working with Bon Air as we envision and prepare for a bright future. My work in this role will be done when a new pastor is called and in place.
For thirty-two years my wife, Carel, and I served as international missionaries with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. After a year in language study in France we began planting churches in the French West Indies, first in Guadeloupe, then on the island of Martinique. We also serve as church planters in several cities in France. One of the highlights of our missionary career was being able to help train over 4,000 Southern Baptist missionaries preparing to go overseas.
Carel and I married in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1963. We both earned our bachelor’s degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I earned two degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. My Master of Divinity in 1971 and the Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1995.
Some fun things about us? Carel loves people and enjoys good fellowship. I play guitar and golf, both poorly! In retirement, I played eight years of Senior League softball with the Grand Prairie, Texas Senior Gophers. We won the Dallas-Forth Worth Championship in 2012 over twenty other teams!
Most of all, I love the Lord and His word. My greatest joy in serving Him.
I would love to get to know you. You can make contact at Robert.shehane(at)bonairbaptist.org.
